Sherwood will remain as a whole piece of property as an ongoing community and gathering place for people with a focus on education and environmental awareness. It will continue as a wilderness family camping experience and become a facility for classes, retreats and workshops

Goals

Stewardship

  1. To insure continued stewardship of the Sherwood Forest property

To create an entity (land trust, corporation, family corporation, association, conservation easement, or foundation) made up of Greiner family members and other Sherwood Forest Family to pursue that mission.

  1. To protect the natural environment of the Sherwood Forest property.

To live lightly on the land: to carefully consider all visual, auditory and intrusive changes to the land.

Community and Outdoor Education

To support community and outdoor education for adults and children which fosters environmental awareness and sound ecological practices while working together in the spirit of kindness, consideration, and support of personal growth. To sponsor activities in which participants are invited by the strength and beauty of the Willapa Bay Region to discover their individual communion with nature and as a result, their personal commitment to nature conservation.

Diversity in the focus of the programs is essential to offering a Sherwood Forest experience to a wide range of participants. Programs might include a summer camp, boat programs, music programs, work camps, etc.

Resource

To offer Sherwood Forest as a resource to public and private schools, outdoor education groups, regional conservation alliances, and other groups who share our concerns.
